Amanda Tapping, an English-born Canadian actress.   Her most well-known role is that of Samantha Carter on the Canadian-American military sci-fi television show Stargate SG-1.   She also was the main character of the science-fiction-fantasy TV series Sanctuary.   She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute, where she was a star in Environmental Science and Drama.   After graduation in 1984, Tapping decided to concentrate her studies on Drama and attended the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts.
